Ruth Langsford’s £44 beauty buy that gives her a ‘holiday glow’

As the summer holidays continue, Ruth Langsford has shared the products she takes along with her before jetting off for a sunny break.

In a recent social media video, the 65-year-old presenter shared her top tip for achieving a holiday glow. Her secret is a tanning serum and a pair of tanning mitts. Ruth said she always takes a bottle of Self Glow by James Read Sunrise to Sundown Tinted Tan Serum, which is available at Boots for £44, with her on holiday.

Ruth explained: “I use this just before I come back so I look brown. Because I don’t tan very well, this Sunrise to Sundown Tinted Tan Serum and the mitt – that’s my little holiday trick, don’t tell anyone.”

Shoppers can achieve either a golden or bronzed look with the tanning serum. Infused with natural cacao extracts, this serum blends multi-molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, fermented mushrooms, aloe vera, vitamins E and F, and natural plant-based DHA to provide instant radiance, long-term hydration, and a lasting, flawless glow.

It has a silky texture and a delicate scent with a blend of uplifting bergamot and sunlit florals, accompanied with creamy sandalwood and smooth vanilla.

Elsewhere Tan-Luxe’s THE BODY Light/Medium is a 15ml tanning drops that can be mixed with lotions and treatments to transform the skin tone. It is stocked at LookFantastic for £19.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Beautiful Skin Island Glow Easy Tanning Drops, £38, is great for cooler skin tones that tend to burn easily and shoppers don’t need to apply it with tanning mitts.

As for the James Read tanning serum, Ruth said she will “apply it the day before flying home” and added: “So I come back with an even better looking holiday glow. Works every time.”

One shopper was happy with their results after using the product and said: “It gave me such a natural bronzed glow with just two drops, no streaks at all, blends so nicely onto both the face and body and with hardly any fake tan scent too, which is lovely.”

Another customer left a raving review: “The Sunrise to Sundown Tinted Tan Serum has become my go-to for a natural, sun-kissed glow. The lightweight, silky texture feels more like a skincare serum and applies evenly thanks to the instant tint. It’s buildable, so I could go from a subtle glow to a deeper tan over a couple of days, and the colour looks golden, not orange.”

But a shopper was disappointed as they shared: “I’m totally gutted this product did nothing. Nothing. I put on for a night out, applied twice and still had no change to my skin.”

Someone else also had a frustrating experience using the serum: “Couldn’t get it out of the packaging and the top broke off when I did so I have to pour it out of the bottle – apart from that it’s excellent.”

The Sunrise to Sundown Tinted Tan Serum was praised by another shopper who said: “I left mine on over night and then rinsed off the following morning. Whilst some colour washes off, it does leave a very natural looking tan. From someone who has used tan for about 15 years, it’s worth the splurge on this tan for an even natural glow.”
