A latest report by an advocacy group has shed light on the escalating violations committed by Israeli prison authorities against female Palestinians in jails.
In a report released on Wednesday, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club detailed severe mistreatment during arrest and detention.
It also underscored ongoing medical neglect and systemic efforts to suppress and humiliate the prisoners.
The harrowing and shocking testimonies point to a sustained policy of abuse that remains unchanged, even amid worsening conditions and growing international concern.
One of the female prisoners identified as (S.W.) recounts her experience of arrest marked by verbal abuse, threats, denial of basic needs like bathroom access, and forced feeding while blindfolded.
She describes being beaten, forced to sleep on metal beds, given inadequate food, and denied clean water.
The woman was later transferred to the notorious Damon Prison, where she and other prisoners were subjected to violent suppression.
They faced collective punishment and dehumanizing treatment for minor or fabricated infractions, including noise from the prison section.
The report also highlights cases of chronic medical neglect, with prisoners like Fidaa Assaf, who suffers from leukemia. She is being denied proper treatment despite her worsening condition.
Similarly, Haneen Jaber, arrested in December 2024, was found to have a breast tumor and remains in detention despite her urgent need for medical care.
These cases exemplify how the prison system continues to detain gravely ill women without adequate health services, endangering their lives.
The report also notes the continued use of physical violence and psychological intimidation.
Prisoner Karmel al-Khawaja, for example, was assaulted during a raid on the women’s section in May, then subjected to internal punishment, including isolation and collective penalties for the entire section.
The report by the advocacy group also reflects a broader strategy of control through fear, degradation, and systematic denial of basic human rights.
It reveals a sharp rise in the detention of Palestinian women since the start of the Israeli campaign of genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Women targeted come from all walks of life, including professionals, students, and relatives of martyrs and prisoners.
Elsewhere in the report, the advocacy group also said at least 545 women had been abducted since October 7, 2023.
The figures exclude those kidnapped in the besieged Gaza Strip during the period.
At least 47 female prisoners are now being held in Israeli prisons, including a child and two pregnant women.
The figures exclude those kidnapped in the besieged Gaza Strip during the period.
In March, the Palestine Prisoners Studies Center said Israel had escalated its aggressive policies against female Palestinian abductees, urging the international community to break their silence and take action on the regime’s crimes.
The Israeli rights group B’Tselem earlier said Israeli authorities were systematically abusing Palestinians in prison camps set up after the October 7 Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
