Downton Abbey 3 first reactions – ‘Fans will shed tears’ at Grand Finale | Films | Entertainment

After six series of the TV show and two movies, a third and final film will conclude the much-loved period drama next month.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale takes place after the death of the late Dame Maggie Smith’s Lady Violet, as the Crawleys and their staff enter the 1930s.

A recently divorced Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) finds herself shunned by society after her divorce, while her father Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) faces financial trouble, putting the stately home’s future in doubt.

Now, a source has exclusively given first reactions to Downton Abbey 3, having caught an early private screening. And it sounds like fans should bring tissues

The insider told Daily Express: “It provides a fitting and satisfying end to this exceptional story. Downton fans will swallow the escapism whole and no doubt tears will shed as the final credits roll.” Whether this means tears mourning a character’s death or just the goodbye to the franchise (or even both) remains to be seen.
